I am interested in topics related to migration and refugee studies, (trans) nationalism, sovereignty and representation, and border regions with a focus on the Middle East.
Specifically, I am interested in the intersections of nationalism and migration in the Levant. I hope to explore how the influx of Syrian migrants and refugees has impacted discourses and identities of nationalism in Lebanon. Additionally, I hope to investigate how refugee communities create their own systems of political mobilization, and whether the lived experiences of refugees are politicized and appropriated by broader nationalist pressures.
