Research interests

  • Political anthropology
  • Anthropology of law and bureaucracy
  • Anthropology of gender
  • Anthropology of East Africa

My research interests encompass the politics of gender in contemporary Africa, women’s political representation, development practice, law, and governance. For my dissertation, I am researching how Kenya’s gender quotas for political representation have shaped the political system and the experiences of women who enter political office through gender quota policies.
