Research

My research uses both modern population genetics and ancient DNA to elucidate evolutionary changes in indigenous populations before and after European colonization in the Americas. I seek to understand how the genetic and epigenetic changes in indigenous American populations resulting from exposure to European pathogens and lifestyles contributed to the devastation of indigenous populations and cultures.

Research Interests:
• Human evolution
• Canine social evolution
• Anthropology of colonialization
• Peopling of the Americas
• Ancient DNA
