Research
Mohammad Javaid is a PhD candidate in Anthropology. His research examines urban transformation in North India, with a focus on the persistence of labor and collective life within planned environments. He analyzes how, since the 1990s, communities navigate redevelopment, shifting labor regimes, and structural adjustment policies. His work highlights forms of collective organization grounded in shared work, mutual support, and local authority structures, shaping everyday urban experience. Drawing on ethnographic fieldwork, archival research, and spatial analysis, the project engages key debates in urban theory and political economy.
